Lee Carsley has insisted Ben White ‘s future remains unchanged as the Arsenal defender snubbed a chance to play in the latest England squad.
The 26-year-old has made just four senior appearances for the Three Lions, the last of which came more than two years ago.
White was part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but left the squad early for ‘personal reasons’ and
was later reported to have fallen out with Southgate’s assistant Steve Holland. While Southgate’s departure appeared to open the door for White to return to the England squad, ยูฟ่าเบท Carsley insists the player is still refusing.
Asked about White’s future, he told reporters: “I am not planning to speak to Ben White. “
We spoke about it in selection. All the players who are eligible to play for England have a chance but, as far as I understand, he asked me not to contact him.”
Carsley has gone on to win his first two games in charge, with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold among his most impressive performers.
Asked on Tuesday night for an update on White, Carsley said he has no plans to talk to White before the next squad announcement.
“I’ve not planned to [speak to White], no,” he told reporters. “We spoke about this in the squad selection. Every player that’s eligible to play for England is in with a chance.
White missed just one Premier League game last season as Mikel Arteta’s side narrowly missed out on the
title. The Gunners will be hoping to make it an even longer run this term When they travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the North London derby on Sunday.
